Menu Background

These are directions to the New York State Fairgrounds, where the race is held (in the Center of Progress building).

From the East (Thruway)

When coming in from the EAST on the Thruway (90), you'll see a sign that says "Syracuse Next 6 Exits". The FIRST exit you come to is Interstate 481. Take that south. After a couple of miles, exit from 481 onto Interstate 690 West. Follow that for 9 or so miles to the Fairgrounds/Solvay exit.

Interstate 690 runs right past the Fairgrounds. Take the Solvay/NYS Fairgrounds exit. This is well marked, as the Fair draws over 1 million visitors each summer during a 10-day stretch!

At the bottom of the ramp, you have to make a 90 degree turn to the left (all traffic does this), then you immediately come to a Y. Bear RIGHT at the Y. You'll go through through 2 closely spaced traffic lights, then see "At the Fairgrounds" below.

From the West (Thruway)

For those coming from the WEST on 90 (the Thruway), exit at Interstate 690 (this is the FIRST Syracuse exit you come to). Go east (towards Syracuse) on 690 for 4-5 miles to the Fairgrounds/Solvay exit. Turn right at the bottom of the ramp, then see "At the Fairgrounds" below.

From the South (Interstate 81)

If coming from the South, up interstate 81, take 690 West (right in the heart of Syracuse), then follow instructions at the top of this note for arriving from the East on Interstate 690.

From the North (Interstate 81)

If coming from the North on 81, you have to get off onto city streets and thence on to 690 West (it's marked). Then follow the instructions at the top for arriving from the East on Interstate 690.

At the Fairgrounds

Enter the Fairgrounds at Gate 2. After that, take your first left, and follow that maybe 1/10 mile. The Center of Progress building is on your right. It has a half circle roof. You should see lots of haulers in the parking lot. Go just around the corner of the building, and then you drive inside the building through a roll-up door.

Attention: starting in 2024 and continuing through 2028 (at least), Interstates 81, 481, and 690 in and around Syracuse are being massively modified. Keep an eye on your favorite traffic app to avoid delays.
